I'm not sure of the answer to that old ditty, but when I saw this one scamper up a tree when Max and I approached on a trail below the dam I figured he was going up there to take some measurements.

Maybe not. More than likely he was yielding to Max before this encounter disintergrated into a serious territorial dispute.

He remained on his lofty perch until we were far out of sight.
