Deer in the Woods On our before-dark hike this evening Max and I jumped a platoon of deer in the southwest woods. They announced their tactical departure with yelps; individual squawks that sounded like a pooch with mild laryngitis--the sounds repeating as they disappeared in the trees. Has anyone ever heard a deer vocalize before? I haven't. |
